A Walk Through Life
I am the slowly ebbing tide
Endlessly carving out my stake
When trouble comes I shall hide
Hidden in a frothy wakeI am the calmly gurgling brook
Winding my way through life
When beauty comes I turn to look
Eyes that have seen sorrow and strifeI am the loudly gushing waterfall
Plunging deeper into dark recess below
When happiness comes I stand tall
fighting the strengthening undertowWhat life has thrown me I have caught
Leaving me silent, alone, and distraught
A Battle of Words
The flame flickers to ember
As cool darkness closes in
With fingers long and limber
I wrestle with the quilted penMy words leap to creation
With every nimble stroke
Yearning for some revelation
An outsider in a private jokeDepart from me o heavy verse
Alight on some unknown foe
Only sorrow can become so terse
Perhaps that is the final woeWith hardness of heart and softness of hand
Armed only with pen and paper, I take my stand
Life's Journey
What wayward strides are taken
Ever marching toward the goal
I travel humble and forsaken
Searching the depths of my soulMy feet trod down that winding path
As my arms reach out for fame
With an inner madness, a hidden wrath
I search the land for those to blameOn I press through this perilous time
Stopping only to curse those who fall
On I go, through thinning air I climb
God save the wretch, God save us allI need not fear the battle ahead
As my footprints, I leave, stained in red
The One We Lost
In the fading light of a passing day
A beleaguered soldier hunkers down
Uniform tattered, once proud flag in fray
He sits alone on blood soaked groundIn the early dawn of a day anew
A woman begins her daily task
With children inquiring what to do
She sits alone with an empty flaskNo letter, no call, another night alone
Without the knowledge of his safe return
Her heart, she fears, is turning to stone
While in her eyes a fury will always burnThe once happy family now found in shreds
A war that kills our bodies, our souls, our heads
That Which is Your's
Your's is a beauty that chills my soul
Inciting my mind to summon your face
In your loving whisper I lose all control
With your soft breath, my heart you chaseYour's is a sweetness no tongue can taste
Making my lips long for your gentle kiss
To be in your arms I travel with great haste
For time with you envelops me with blissYour's is a happiness one can never explain
Causing my heart to leap out in fervent cheer
While the world spins round in wretched pain
Wrapped in your arms I am sheltered from fearYour's is a life from which dreams spring
Let us journey together, my heart I will bring
